TRADITIONS playlist for March 12, 2017
A busy and fun show with two guests this week. Pat Wictor joined me to discuss his new CD This is Absolutely Real: Visions and Versions of Phil Ochs. The songs Pat chose show the diversity and depth of Phil Och’s songwriting, and the innovative settings showcase the immense talents of Pat Wictor.
My second guest was an extraordinary experience. The legendary protest singer and the voice of a generation – Ramblin’ Bob. I am honored that Bob chose my show to return and offer up a new topical song, ripped from today’s headlines. It’s funny, but when you look at him up close in a studio, Ramblin’ Bob is the spitting image of Rob Carlson of Modern Man fame.
(Links to recordings of both interviews can be found below)
Also, new recordings from Charlie King and Barbara Dane and more classic songs rounded out the show.
(Tune in to WFDU-FM’s TRADITIONS every Sunday from 3pm to 6pm Eastern Timeover WFDU-FM 89.1 in the NYC/Northern New Jersey area,or on the web at www.wfdu.fm or iHeartRadio.com. The show can also be heard Saturday evenings at 6:30pm ET at www.bluesandroots.radio.com.
On-demand streams of shows, including this one, are archived for two weeks by clicking HERE.
