WFDU-FM’s TRADITIONS Playlist for June 21, 2009
The obligatory Father’s Day “theme” hour (as mandated by F.C.C. and a subparagraph ruling of the 1954 rule passed by the International Folk Music Council) filled the portion of the show. I “twittered” requests for this and was surprised by a nice response (via Facebook) and some terrific suggestions.
I also gave a nod to the Summer Solstice and as a public service announcement I reminded our listeners here in New Jersey what the sun looks like. (By the way, the ark is nearly finished.)
The second hour was dedicated to a preview of the upcoming Old Songs Festival of Traditional Music and Dance – my favorite festival of the season. Do yourself a favor, if you have not gone to one – check it out! This year is the 29th annual fest and it will feature artists like Christine Lavin, Josh White Jr., Peggy Seeger, Roberts & Barrand, Lou & Peter Berryman and many others. Go to www.oldsongs.org .
New and recommend – Hope Machine “Big Green”, Cary Cooper “Dirty Little Secret”, Dale Robin “Sweet & Salty”
(Tune in to TRADITIONS every Sunday from 3 to 6pm Eastern Time
over WFDU-FM 89.1 in the NYC/Northern New Jersey area
or on the web at www.wfdu.fm.
