Our final week of fundraising on WFDU! Each year, WFDU-FM holds a month long fund drive to keep our non-commercial radio station in operation. Unlike many public radio stations, we do not hit up our listeners every quarter, so the month of February is important to us.

With my co-host Bill Hahn, we drummed up some great support this season. Today’s show featured a number of listener favorites and requests, and I think we gave our listeners a nice example of what the show is all about. Bill and I alternate weeks hosting this show, and while our tastes and choices have some differences, I really think it shows just how diverse the folk music community and our fans are!

I started the program back in 1980 with the intention of presenting a weekly folk festival on the air – each hour being a visit to different “stages” to sample the finest music from a cross section of artists that date back to the early days of the folk revival and field recordings to contemporary artists that are carrying on the living tradition of folk music.

We would like to thank everyone who donated. It is heart warming to see many of our listeners come back year after year with generous donations and also to meet new friends who support what we are trying to accomplish. It is wonderful folks like you who keep folk music alive and thriving! Thanks!!!
