I’m feeling old this week. On Thursday I will hit the big half century mark.

But that doesn’t bother me.

What really shocked me was to realize that today is Arlo Guthrie’s 60TH birthday! Can this be true? The eternal teenager who will always be associated with a VW Microbus is now 60 years old?

Actually, this is great news. Arlo gives us hope that age is not to be considered a roadblock. Earlier generations would dread hitting such landmark occasions, but today – it is just another day. I’ve always loved the philospophy that “growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional”. Words to live by.

So, enjoy the day – Happy Birthday Arlo! Enjoy the celebration at this weekend’s Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, Oklahoma. We are looking forward to seeing you in our neck of the woods when you perform at Falcon Ridge on July 29th and at Lincoln Center (for free!) on August 2nd.
