It was a dreary, rainy, cold afternoon in the NYC area – and my intent was
to spread a little cheer and offer a bit of a reprieve. With the tragedy in
Haiti in all of our thoughts, I spent some time sharing music from Haiti to
remind ourselves of the rich culture and heritage of the island. I think
music always is the common thread that we can all relate to, and in a small
way I hope we were able to connect in a positive way.

On today’s show I re-introduced a feature that I call “The Session” – a
segment devoted to sharing Celtic themed recordings. This is based on
another radio series that I used to host, also called “The Session”.

More great new music to share this week – an exciting new release from Dave
Rowe “The Music Never Dies”(sort of a solo project combined with the Dave
Rowe Trio!), Modern Man’s Rob Carlson’s beautiful solo CD “Pieces of
Paradise”,a powerful collection from Tim Grimm “Farm Songs”, and former
Solas bandmates Karen Casey and Johny Doyle teaming up for a virtuoso
performance on “Exiles Return”.
