Personal Note – It was a honor to be nominated, and while I would have enjoyed the honor, I am very happy that the Broadcasting award went to Rich Warren. Rich is the long-time host of WFMT’s “Midnight Special” (also syndicated across the country and heard on XM Satellite Radio), as well as the producer of the live performanced series “Folk Stage”. Rich is a seminal figure on the folk scene, a writer for Sing Out! magazine, producer, and THE VOICE for folk music in Chicago – and much of the country. Congratulations to Rich – and all the winners! Mary Sue Twohy did a nice job getting this awards ceremony onto XM Satellite radio to give all of us an opportunity to share in the fun! Folk Music deserves a national stage and more attention – this is a great step in perpetuating the music we all love!
