THE ARROGANT WORMS & THE SECOND FIDDLES OPEN HURDY GURDY’S NEW SEASON IN OUR NEW HOME THIS SATURDAY!!!!
It is starting to sink in. The Hurdy Gurdy concert season kicks off this Saturday in our new home. The board of directors have been working on making this move since December 2006 (actually scouting other sites months before that!). Our new friends and partners – the Borough of Fair Lawn have also been working real hard to make us feel welcome and to insure that we have all that we need to present a successful series of concerts – and more! It is hard to come up with the right words to express our gratitude (mainly because I am operating on coffee fumes after a lack of sleep the past two weeks!). Our ticket sales are up and hopefully we will have a great turnout on Saturday.
This Saturday, Saturday September 15th at 8:00pm, the
Hurdy Gurdy is pleased to present Canada’s “Clowned Princes of Comedy” – The Arrogant Worms . The Fair Lawn Community Center is located at 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, NJ. The Arrogant Worms have become part of Canadiana. Their songs are used in lesson plans across the country and one has even made it into an English textbook. Their song “Dangerous” was played aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour for astronaut and fan Chris Hadfield. The Arrogant Worms were recognized in 2003 as the Touring Act of the Year by the Canadian Arts Presenters Association. However, their biggest honour came in 2005 though when they read in the New York Times that Carrie Fisher and Meg Ryan were singing along with a Worms cassette tape on a driving trip in Newfoundland. Princess Leia!! And Sally!!
