The Heritage of John Langstaff. The Folk Music Society of NY, Inc and New York Revels are sponsoring a
one-day symposium on his heritage and an evening memorial celebration. The event is also co-sponsored by the
Country Dance & Song Society and Revels, Inc. (Cambridge, MA).
Panel discussion in the daytime symposium will center on the central aspects of Jack’s professional life: Music,
Dance & Movement in the Education of Children and Teachers; Tradition as Theatre and Theatre as Tradition;
Accompaniment and Arrangement in Traditional Folk Song; and Ritual and Ceremony for the 21st Century.
Participants so far include: John Roberts & Tony Barrand, Susan Cooper, Larry Rosenwald, Paddy Swanson,
Jerry Epstein, and (if we can raise the money) Keith Kendrick. There will be many more.
The evening celebration will have all of the above participants plus the Greenwich Morris Men, a brass group, an
early music group, a chorus, and others – all to inspire re-dedication to Jack’s unique vision. at the Church of the
Holy Apostles, NYC –
