PETE SEEGER VISITS DAVID LETTERMAN
Here is a note from our friends at Appleseed Records:
Pete Seeger will be appearing on the “Late Night with David Letterman” show on Monday, September 29th, between 11:35 p.m. and 12:35 a.m. ET to celebrate his new CD on Appleseed, At 89, available in stores the following day.
Pete will perform “Take it from Doctor King,” his tribute to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which appears on Appleseed’s 2003 2-CD set, Seeds: The Songs of Pete Seeger, Volume 3, a finalist for that year’s Grammy as Best Traditional Folk Recording. Follow this link to our website’s page about Seeds, where you can also read about At 89, or listen to a sample of “Take It from Dr. King” through our link to iTunes.

In the
months preceding the official September 30 release date of Pete’s newly recorded At 89 CD, currently available through our website, Pete has as busy as ever, playing events — mostly benefits — ranging from New England Farm Relief Fund shows in Lebanon, New Hampshire and Brattleboro, Vermont, to funds micro-loans for small family farms to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens’ annual Chile Pepper Fiesta this Saturday, Sept. 27.Meanwhile
, media interest in the indefatigable Pete’s activities is widening its focus to At 89. Aside from the upcoming Letterman performance, the iconic musician and warrior for social change has been interviewed by the Associated Press, The New York Post and Performing Songwriter, among others, for soon-to-be-published features; many additional periodicals in the music and general press are all scheduled to run reviews of the CD in upcoming issues this fall and early winter.I am sure Pete will not pull a “John McCain” on
Dave. Hopefully they will chat for a few minutes in addition to Pete singing his song. Be sure to look for this CD when it hits stores next week! As noted in a previous review on this site, it is a magnificent recording, one of the best I have heard from Pete or any folk artist!I guarantee it will make a number of “Best of” lists of recordings for the year, including
mine!!
