OVER 1500 FRIENDS, FAMILY AND FANS GATHER AS TOMMY MAKEM IS LAID TO REST
Tommy Makem was laid to rest today in Dover, New Hampshire – his adopted home here in the United States.
Over 1500 gathered at St. Mary’s Church in Dover to pay their respect to the Bard of Armagh, including many local and state dignitaries who joined family, friends and fans as they bid farewell to the legend.
Among the mourners was Liam Clancy, the last surviving member of the Clancy Brothers. Liam played the an accordian and sang “The Bard of Armagh” during the service, which also included several eulogies from family and friends.
Following the church service, Tommy was laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetary in Dover. Tommy was buried next to his beloved wife Mary, who passed away six years ago.
