  1. No excusesfor how long it’s taken me to get here . . . but now I’m here . . .
    Have to agree with the Steve Earle comments, he seems to have an inbuilt understanding of the song typical of his honesty. Not heard the Dick Gaughan version but he is another that brings an honesty to his song interpretations (check out his version of Lal Watersons ‘Scarecrow’ if you can find it)
    Much as I like the Steve Earle version, for sheer ‘listenability’ David and Gillian can’t be beat, just love that gentle, laid back (confessional?) delivery.

  2. I’m with you Ken, the Steve Earle performance wins this round for me. I’m probably gonna get shot down while hanging a picture in my living room for saying this, but I like it better than the original.
