Bluegrass songwriter Harley Allen passes
We’ve received the sad news that Nashville-based songwriter Harley Allen passed away this morning, March 30th, after a battle with cancer. The son of bluegrass performer Red Allen, he’s had a long-lasting relationship with bluegrass and country music, working with an impressive list of performers, including Linda Ronstadt, Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss. He recently won two Grammy Awards for providing background vocals for “I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow” featured in 2002’s film “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” Harley was 55.
