LIVE FROM OLD SONGS 2010
I’ll make no secret about it – the Old Songs Festival of Traditional Music and Dance is my all-time favorite festival. Don’t get me wrong – I love the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge, New Bedford Summerfest, and many of the other annual events – but there is something about Old Songs that is unique.
A few years ago I heard someone compare Old Songs to “Brigadoon”. While the magical land of Brigadoon appears every 100 years, Old Songs takes place each June in Altamont, NY. This year marks the 30th annual Old Song Festival, and it maintains it’s family oriented style of presenting the finest in “traditional” music. Okay, it is hard to define what is “traditional” these days, but the festivals motto says it all – “Music With Roots”.
I will be atteding the festival Friday and Saturday (not sure if I can stay on Sunday due to a family obligation), and I will be posting updates here on my website as well as my Facebook page and Twitter. At the top of this page you will see a box with “live” Twitter updates that I plan on posting throughout the weekend (as long as I get cell phone service!!).
I’m heading over the the Altamont Fairgrounds now – more to come!!! Stay tuned!!!!
