Some news from the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club –
Just a quick reminder – we still have a few tickets remaining for our celebration of Woodstock – our August 30th bus trip to the Museum at Bethel, site of the original festival. In addition to enjoying the museum and festival site, we will also visit the annual Harvest Festival that is taking place on the grounds that day.
Our bus will leave Fair Lawn, NJ at 9am on Sunday August 30th, and we will return to Fair Lawn at approximately 6pm. Tickets are only $40 ($35 for Hurdy Gurdy members) and you can purchase online at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org . For more information please e-mail us or call the Hurdy Gurdy Hotline at 201 384-1235.
The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club will kick off our 2009-2010 concert season at the Fair Lawn Community Center on Saturday September 12th when we present THE FOLK BROTHERS – Jack Hardy and David Massengill. Jack and David are two of our favorite songwriters who we’ve loved since their days with Fast Folk. Having them together on one stage will be a real treat!
The opening night festivities will begin with our special guest Debra Cowan, an outstanding singer of traditional and contemporary song!
Mark your calendar! You do not want to miss the fun of opening night! Tickets are now onsale through our website at www.hurdygurdyfolk.org .
We have a great season in store for you – a mix of old friends and new faces! Returning to the Hurdy Gurdy (actually their first visit to our “new” Fair Lawn home) will be CHERYL WHEELER, LOU & PETER BERRYMAN, AZTEC TWO-STEP, WOODS TEA COMPANY, and TOM CHAPIN (who will also present a special afternoon family show!), and – the newly re-united duo of BUSKIN & BATTEAU!!!! We are happy to announce that making their first visit to the Hurdy Gurdy this season will be SARA LEE GUTHRIE & JOHNNY IRION, AMY SPEACE, and a special “old-timey” evening featuring THE SHIVERS and THE SECOND FIDDLES. We will also introduce you to some up and coming artists that will be opening most of our shows.
