The traditional music world lost a champion on January 15 with the passing of Alan Jabbour. Through his 23 years of service for the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Arts he was a wonderful representative of the Folk Arts in America. In addition to his time with the Government he was also a very talented fiddler and assisted in the production of the classic American Fiddle Tunes and the Hammons Family collections for the Library of Congress eventually released on Rounder Records. We’ll hear music from Alan’s Graduate School days in North Carolina with the Hollow Rock String Band, selections from American Fiddle Tunes and The Hammons set and some recent recordings with his friends.
