FOLK MUSIC NOTEBOOK UPDATE & ARROGANT WORMS TO APPEAR ON WFDU
Just a quick note – I have not dropped off the face of the earth! I apologize for the relatively few postings in recent weeks. I have a number of CD reviews and a look at the Philadelphia Folk Fest. I have been sidelined with last minute details for the upcoming Hurdy Gurdy season at the Fair Lawn Community Center, and I’ve been the chairperson for the North East Regional Folk Alliance Formal Showcase Committe – which has taken up most of my free time during the past month!
As for NERFA and the formal showcase, we hope to announce our selections sometime next week. The artists that we select will showcase at this fall’s NERFA Conference at Kutsher’s in the Catskills. Approximately 500 presenters, artists and industry folks will gather to sample the talent that will gather for the weekend. The formal showcase is one of the highlights at this weekend, and while I can’t tell you many details at this point – I can say that we have had some real outstanding submissions this year. Having judged for a number of years, I really think this is some of the finest music I’ve heard yet! It will be a real challenge to pick the finalists!
