DAVID BROMBERG TO BE A GUEST ON WFDU-FM’S TRADITIONS
This Sunday, September 28th, I am pleased to announce that my special guest on WFDU-FM’s TRADITIONS will be DAVID BROMBERG!David Bromberg and the Angel Band will be appearing at Irvington Town Hall Theater in Irvington, New York on Saturday October 4th.The legendary David Bromberg “returned” to the concert stage in earnest in recent years, and he also “returned” to the studio to record the critically acclaimed “Try Me One More Time” (Appleseed Recordings), his first studio CD in 17 years, a 2007 Grammy finalist as “Best Traditional Folk Recording”. This past summer, Appleseed released “Live in New York City 1982”, originally sold on David’s merchandise table at concerts. Appleseed went back to the original tapes and remastered the CD to produce a recording the captures the intesity and spirt of Bromberg in concert.David’s wife Nancy Josephson is the founder and leader of The Angel Band, a brilliant trio that also features Jen Schonwald and Kathleen Weber and a back-up band that includes David. 2008 saw the Angel Band release their third CD (their first on Appleseed) called “With Roots and Wings”, a brilliant collection of gospel, country and bluegrass music.
It should be an incredible musical event at the Irvington Town Hall, a jewel of a venue in the heart of Irvington, New York. This Sunday afternoon promises to feature a intriguing chat with one of roots music most influential artists! Be sure to tune in to WFDU between
3 and 6pm this Sunday, September 28th. WFDU can be heard at 89.1FM, or listen online at www.wfdu.fm.
