CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR THE 2008 MUSIC TO LIFE SONG CONTEST
Noel “Paul” Stookey’s Public Domain Foundation is once again sponsoring the biennial Music to Life Song Contest. Entries are due by February 1, 2008.
The contest seeks songs of social change or politicial issues of concern. Ten finalists will be selected by a panel of judges that will include Judy Collins, Christine Lavin, Holly Near, Tom Paxton, Noel Paul Stookey, Mary Travers and Peter Yarrow. The finalists will appear at a special concert to be held on May 31 at this years 2008 Kerrville Folk Festival and the grand prize winner will also perform on the main stage. The concert will also be recorded for a planned CD release, which will help garner additional exposure for the songs and the artists. The top three winners will have donatainos made in their name to a non-profit cause of their choice.
