A BENEFIT FOR UTAH PHILLIPS TO BE HELD IN WHITE PLAINS ON SUNDAY APRIL 20
I’d like to share a note that I received from John Pietaro, a member of the alternative protest ensemble Flames of Discount, about this coming Sunday’s benefit for Utah Phillips:

Topical singers of many stripes join together to raise money for the ailing Utah Phillips—folk legend, loud and proud member of the Industrial Workers of the World, founding member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 1000, radical activist, songwriter, and recording artist. Utah has recorded many albums over the decades, but his best-known were perhaps those in collaboration with Ani Di Franco.
Currently Utah is unable to perform to earn a living and musicians have engaged in a series of benefit concerts to aid this brother who’s done so much for so many. This is the first, perhaps only Hudson Valley-based Utah benefit. Members of the IWW will be present as will petititions calling for universal healthcare.
