Universal funny-man Steve Martin may be best known for his role as a comedian, but he isn’t joking around when it comes to banjo playing. At least that’s what members of Artistworks Academy of Bluegrass learned when Steve Martin stepped in for a guest lesson on Tony Trischka’s School of Banjo. Martin taught members of the instructional website how to play the song “Hide Behind a Rock” from his latest CD Rare Bird Alert. Members of Artistworks Academy of Bluegrass are able to watch exclusive teaching videos, and even watch Martin plucking in slow motion. You can see a snippet of his lesson below. Artistworks Academy of Bluegrass kicked off earlier this month, and is notable for its unique teaching methods — including video back-and-forth between instructor and student.
