ORPHEUS SUPERTONES
Going To Town

The old-time music revival is in its seventh decade. In that time we have encountered revivalist bands that kept to the tradition, multidimensional outfits that brought musical styles from all around into their music. We’ve heard hippie old-time bands who brought a level of psychedelia to the proceedings and we’ve enjoyed the masters who never stopped playing or even thought much about it for that matter.
Orpheus Supertones is comprised of some old-time stalwarts who now call Southeastern Pennsylvania home. They are Kellie Allen, Pete Petersen, Clare Milliner, Walt Koken and the newest Supertone Hilary Dirlam.
Going To Town includes a generous helping of 18 classic old-time tunes all recorded live at home, some in stereo and the others in glorious mono. The clarity is remarkable and the lack of overdubbing leaves the listener with a wonderful feeling of immediacy.
Now which kind of old-time band is Orpheus Supertones? Well, they have a little bit of all the aforementioned descriptions, goodness knows they’ve been through all of them. But really Orpheus Supertones is one terrific old-time band with all the bark and leaves left intact. Enjoy!
