Podcast: Spend a Week With Woody
Episode #17-22 | airing 5-31-17
In the past few years there has been a resurgence in interest in the music of Woody Guthrie. The political times we live in and the growing chasm between rich and poor in the US makes Woody’s music as relevant as ever. Additionally with Nora Guthrie, Woody’s daughter, encouraging current songwriters and musicians to compose music to the huge number of verses he left behind there is new Woody music once again.
This week on the Sing Out! Radio Magazine we’ll listen to new and classic renditions of Woody’s music with special emphasis on the new Smithsonian Folkways set Roll Columbia.
