2011 Blues Music Award Winners Announced
The Blues Foundation held its annual Blues Music Awards ceremony and Blues Hall of Fame inductions. This year, the foundation honored winners in 26 categories. Buddy Guy took home the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award, Album of the Year Award, Contemporary Blues Album of the Year Award, Contemporary Blues Artist of the Year Award and Song of the Year Award. Posthumous awards were given to Pinetop Perkins, Solomon Burke and Robin Rogers. Artists Robert Cray, Denise LaSalle, John Hammond, Big Maybelle, Alberta Hunter, and J.B. Lenoir were all inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Matt Hill was awarded the Best New Artist Debut for his album On the Floor. Cedric Burnside, grandson of the late R.L. Burnside, won the award for Best Drums Instrumentalist.
