That Other Festival 1969
Episode #19-34 | airing 08-21-19
There has been abundant coverage of the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock. This week on the show, we’ll look back at a festival held the following weekend. The Philadelphia Folk Festival shared only a few performers but continued the mellow vibe established in Bethel, New York. The 1969 Philly Folk Fest included The Rev. Gary Davis, Doc and Merle Watson, Bonnie Dobson, Rosalie Sorrells, Jerry Jeff Walker and the only carryover from Woodstock: The Incredible String Band. We’ll hear music from all of these performers and more as we celebrate that other festival in August 1969. It’s the summer of love, folkie-style … this week on The Sing Out! Radio Magazine.
