PETER, PAUL & MARY CANCEL SPRING TOUR
Peter Paul & Mary announced on their website that their spring tour has been cancelled. Mary Travers recently underwent two back surgeries and the healing process has taken longer than anticipated. The good news is that her doctors anticipate a full recovery, but they have also advised her to cancel her touring for a few months. The trio expects to be back on the road and delighting audiences once again in the fall.
As many of you know, Mary battled leukemia a few years back – and she is doing very well. This surgery is NOT related to leukemia but rather to a bit of bad luck.
By the way, next Wednesday March 12 at 8:00pm – check out the PBS Special – “Peter, Bethany & Rufus: Spirit of Woodstock” which will be broadcast by WNET Channel 13 in NYC. The program, which premiered in Feburary on WLIW, is a documentary/concert film that features Peter Yarrow, his daughter Bethany and her musical partner Rufus Cappadocia. The concert was filmed at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY and it was interspered with documentary footage as the trio went to visit Peter Yarrow’s summer home of his youth. Finding the building in a rundown condition leads to some fascinating conversations about youth, the passage of time, and the connection of generations. This program is being presented as part of WNET’s fund drive, and Cathie Ryan will be hosting the evenings broadcast. I spoke with Cathie last week and she informed me that Peter, Bethany & Rufus will be in the studio so you can expect some surprises!
If you are not in the NYC area, please check with your local PBS station for broadcast times
