Happy Birthday, Pete!, Pt. 1
Episode #19-18 | airing 05-01-19
This week we begin a two-part feature in celebration of Pete Seeger’s 100th Birthday. Pete was born on May 3rd 1919 in New York City. In his more than 90 years he introduced us to a peaceful way of life, strength and stamina and some of the finest music yet produced in the United States and beyond. We’ll listen to some early recordings of Pete with the Almanac Singers and the Weavers, a set of live performances from the 1950s and ‘60s and some of his fellow travelers in the world of folk music. Celebrating Pete … this week on The Sing Out! Radio Magazine.
