HURDY GURDY FOLK MUSIC CLUB PLANS PRIVATE SAIL ON THE CLEARWATER
I hope that many of you that read this column were in attendance at last weekends Ronny Cox concert at the Hurdy Gurdy in Fair Lawn. It was, as expected, an incredible concert. Ronny make a personal connection with the audience and offered a brilliant selection of song and story. Many audience members stopped me after the concert to thank us for bringing Ronny to NJ! It was an honor, and I was so happy that everyone enjoyed the concert!
Some big news!!! The Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club is planning a member sail on the historic Sloop Clearwater!!
On Saturday July 19th at 10am, we will depart from the Alpine Boat Basin and a enjoy a three hour sail on the Hudson River!
Tickets are only $25 – and are offering them to members first! Space is limited as there is room for only 50 people on the boat. We urge you to order your tickets today! (If any tickets remain after May 4th, they will be offered to the general public at a higher price.)
Hurdy Gurdy members can also bring along family and friends! If you have a single membership, you can purchase one additional ticket for an additional $25. If you have a dual membership, you can purchase up to two additional tickets for an additional $25 per ticket.Interested?
If you are a Hurdy Gurdy member (or would like to join), please send a check or money order payable to the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club, along with a note stating the number of tickets that you are requesting, and mail it to our event coordinator:
(If you are not a member and would like to join – you can do so at the same time! Membership includes our monthly newsletter (delivered by first class snail mail), a $3 discount on Tickets to Hurdy Gurdy concerts, members only parties and events, plus the knowledge that you are helping to keep the music (and the club) alive. Membership is still a bargain! A single membership is $15 per year, and a dual membership (two people, one newsletter) is $21 per year. You can fill out a form and mail a check for the membership amount and send it to the above address with your Clearwater ticket order! Click here for the form – it is at the bottom of the page.)
Please note – the boat sails rain or shine. The trip would only be cancelled if the captain of the Clearwater determines the weather is too dangerous to sail – a rarity on the Hudson River. The Hurdy Gurdy will send an information packet to everyone who is attending with more details. If you have any questions, please contact the Hurdy Gurdy at (201) 384-1325.
The Clearwater is a 106-foot wooden sailing sloop designed after 18th and 19th century Dutch sailing sloops. In 1966, folk singer and activist Pete Seeger had the vision that the public would come to care for all of our threatened waterways by learning to care for one boat and one river. He inspired a group of dedicated people who made the dream a reality. Launched in 1969, Clearwater serves as a moveable classroom, laboratory, stage, and forum.
We are excited to offer our members this opportunity for a lovely summer day of education, companionship, and the beauty of the Hudson River – and there will be music!!!!
