HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOB DYLAN!
Is it possible? Bob Dylan is now 66 years old?
Last year, Bob Dylan took on a new job – disc jockey. He has just wrapped up his first season of “Theme Time Radio Hour” on XM Satellite radio, and if you have not heard it – you are missing a real treat! It is good to hear Dylan in a more casual atmosphere talking about music, sharing a joke or two, and seemingly enjoying himself with this program. XM will offer a marathon of the first season shows on Memorial Day weekend – 48 hours with Bob Dylan!
Today, XM is celebrating Dylan’s birthday with extended sets and specials on their folk channel – The Village (XM 15) and on their classic album rock channel – Deep Tracks (XM 40).
If you have not yet signed up, this might be the perfect time. I’m a huge XM fan and I highly recommend their folk channel, brilliantly programmed by Mary Sue Twohy and Robert Aubrey Davis. In addition to their folk channel, I find myself constantly sampling other offerings including their 60’s channel – designed to sound like the radio stations we grew up with, listening to Major League baseball – they broadcast EVERY game from EVERY team, plus I love the Old-Time Radio channel. That is my unsolicited plug! Check them out at www.xmradio.com . You can also listen via the Internet to many of their channels.
Anway, back to Bob. He will be continuing his “never ending” tour next month, with stops planned for Atlantic City. He is a tireless troubadour and I look forward to whatever direction he plans to go in the future. It is always an interesting ride!
