Chris Thile on tour with Brad Mahldau
If you’re on the East Coast and looking for a good concert this spring, check out Chris Thile and Brad Mahldau’s newly announced tour dates for April. This series will be the second collaboration for these two musicians, having shared the stage back in September 2011 at London’s Wigmore Hall. Thile, an acclaimed mandolinist and vocalist, is a member of the Grammy Award-winning Nickel Creek and a founder of Punch Brothers, a five-man string band that has produced three successful albums. He is credited with several duo albums and performances, most recently taking the stage with Yo-Yo Ma. As a solo artist, Thile records with Nonesuch Records. The talented Thile also composes original music, which will be featured on the upcoming tour.
Pianist Brad Mahldau also performs as a solo artist as well as leading his own group, the Brad Mahldau Trio. He has performed alongside superstars Renee Fleming and John Mayer, and is known for playing jazz standards as well as original compositions. He also records with Nonesuch Records. The pair will begin their collaboration in New York City’s Bowery Ballroom on April 9.
