Baltic Psaltery Conference in Finland
Folk Music Institute, in association with Kanteleliitto, Finnish Ethnomusicological Society, Global Music Centre and Music Department of the Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences will hold the 6th International Baltic Psaltery Conference in Kaustinen, Finland, on November 3–4 2008. The conference encourages submissions from all over the world from scholars, students, builders and practitioners of the kantele, kankles, kokle, kannel or gusli, through paper presentations and showcases. The invited guest speaker of the conference is Professor John Baily of Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Live performances will also be a part of the evening program. Abstracts or synopses of presentations, with a limit of 250 words, describing the required equipment for the presentation should be submitted to Dr. Marko Aho, chair of the program committee, by no later than March 31, 2008. Information on acceptance will be given no later than April 15, 2008. The working language of the conference is English.
