August 6th is “Traum Day”!
The town of Woodstock, NY (“the most famous small town in the world”) has designated August 6, 2011 as “Traum Day,” honoring Homespun Tapes co-owner Happy Traum and his late brother, guitarist/songwriter and producer Artie Traum. The event “is in recognition of forty years of outstanding contributions to the music, arts, economy and spirit of Woodstock.” The town also cited Happy and Jane Traum’s Homespun Tapes “as having created jobs and enhanced the local music scene by providing a steady flow of well respected national and international musicians who have visited and performed in our town.”
A ceremony, scheduled for Noon on Saturday at the Village Green in Woodstock, will include music by Happy with John Sebastian, Larry Campbell, Levon Helm and several other top musicians. The even with include the presentation of a “Key to Woodstock” to Happy and Artie Traum with Artie’s widow Beverly accepting on behalf of Artie.
