The following artists were selected for this year’s Emerging Artist Showcase at Falcon Ridge from approximately 480 total applicants. This is the order in which they will appear on our mainstage Friday July 21 from noon to 4:30PM.

2006 will mark the 18th Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and the 15th year for the “Emerging Artist” showcase. I don’t know all the performers, but I highly recommend Pat Wictor, Liz Carlise, Dan McKinnon, Red Molly and Open Book.
Pat Wictor and Red Molly were guest artists at NERFA when Bill Hahn and I hosted our showcase in honor of the 25th anniversary of WFDU-FM’s Traditions. Pat is a talented singer-songwriter and interpreter of traditional styles. Red Molly offers beautiful harmonies on classic and original songs. They are not to be missed!
I met Dan McKinnon at NERFA last fall and was struck by his amazing songs. Some people may be reminded of Stan Rogers, and it was Curly Boy Stubbs (Paul Mills) who produced his last CD, but Dan is a very unique performer and songwriter from the Canadian Maritimes.
Lis Carlise is a brilliant young singer-songwriter from the Boston area who recently performed at the Kerrville Folk Festival as one of the 2006 New Folk Finalists. Open Book is a local duo, Rick Gedney and Michele Rubin who recently released their second CD – “The Things We Keep.”

It promises to be another exciting year at Falcon Ridge. The mainstage performers this year include Cheryl Wheeler, Modern Man, Susan Werner, David Massengill, Christine Lavin, Shawn Colvin, the Rowan Brothers, Eddie From Ohio and many others.
