THE WILD RUMPUS: 304
THE WILD RUMPUS
304
Mudbone 002-03
There is a tradition of irreverent and sometimes reckless behavior among old-time players. The Wild Rumpus travels that road. They describe their sound as “stompgrass” and that is very appropriate.
There is very little information about the band on their CD (no personnel listed) and in one photo they appear to be a quartet and in another a trio. From the lyrics and dedication within the CD itself it would appear as if they are from West Virginia.
Their sound is not the gentle music of the mountains but rather a take-no-prisoners approach more related to the Hackensaw Boys or a more streamlined version of the Avett Brothers.
Sometimes you just want to put on a pair of boots and an old pair of Levis, enjoy some brews and kick back. The Wild Rumpus could be the soundtrack to just such an evening.
