SORM Playlist #15-12: Women In Bluegrass
(airing the week starting 3-18-15)
Bluegrass has been mostly a boy’s club since it’d development in the 1940s. In the past decade and a half the rules have changed and we find more and more women leading or playing a featured role bands. It didn’t all start with Alison Krauss but she has been the most visible. We trace the contributions made by women from Sally Anne Forrester to current bands and players such as Bearfoot and Laurie Lewis.
