2007 OLD SONGS FESTIVAL PERFORMERS ARE ANNOUNCED
If science ever finds a cure for procrastination, I guarantee the world would be a much better place. I am a procrastinator, and because of this terrible afflication, I would not only would be a better person, but I would also have brought more joy into my own life. I regret the fact that it took me 20 years to discover the wonders of the Old Song Festival of Music and Dance. I can only imagine the incredible music I missed. Luckily, the music I have been lucky enough to witness has made a lasting impression. Come hell or high water, I will not miss another Old Songs!
Why did I procrastinate? I can’t think of any reason that makes sense. The festival is held in Altmont, NY – a beautiful town near Albany, and a lovely drive from NJ. The festival is held on the Altamont Fairgrounds – a perfect setting for such an event. Wonderful barns, trees, comfortable stages , incredible jam sessions and dances, and an appreciative audience. The performers are exceptional – strong traditional roots but yet extending to show that folk music is a living tradition. The festival draws a respectable sized crowd, but you never feel cramped or overwhelmed – except perhaps by having to make a choice on what to see or do next!
