It goes without saying that folk music owes a lot to Bob Dylan. He was reluctantly appointed as the youthful leader of the ’60s folk revival fervor — a role he admonished but also thrived upon. His excursions into rock and roll catapulted him among the ranks of America’s most potent characters like Hemingway, Twain and Ginsberg. A singing army of songwriters catalyzed because of his inspiration, and his music continues to resonate generation after generation. You’d be hard pressed to find a musician or singer who has not been touched by Bob Dylan’s music to some degree. His impact has been large enough to create loyalists, purists; scores of writers have debated everything Dylan-related, his philosophy, writing style… even fashion.  Now, at 70 years of age, Dylan remains a statuesque figure, one whose brilliance cannot be claimed by any single genre. “The American Success Machinery chews up geniuses at a rate of one a day,” thankfully Bob Dylan has left them hungering for more.
