Elijah is a musican and writer who accompanied Dave Van Ronk on an album of Bertolt Brecht songs and co-wrote his memoir, The Mayor of MacDougal Street. His books include a biography of Josh White and Escaping the Delta: Robert Johnson and the Invention of the Blues.
