TRADITIONS playlist for February 12, 2017

Last week, in response to a recent post I made here in the Folk Music Notebook (“We Can Turn This Ship Around” – January 18, 2017 ), Christine Lavin sent out the word to the singer-songwriter contingent of the folk music community that I was both receptive to and welcoming new topical songs. I was overwhelmed with the response. Over the past week I received dozens of songs on a variety of subjects – gun control, the environment, the sad saga of the Bowling Green Massacre, and of course some songs about the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I am still in the process of reviewing, but I scattered several during the course of the afternoon and there will be more to come in future broadcasts.

Some of the new songs I received include brand new recordings from Tom Chapin, Tret Fure, Carolann Solebello and Christine Lavin.

(Tune in to WFDU-FM’s TRADITIONS every Sunday from 3pm to 6pm Eastern Time over WFDU-FM 89.1 in the NYC/Northern New Jersey area, or on the web at www.wfdu.fm or iHeartRadio.com.
The show can also be heard Saturday evenings at 6:30pm ET at www.bluesandroots.radio.com.
On-demand streams of shows, including this one, are archived for two weeks by clicking HERE.
