Silver Spoon: A New Musical Love Story, with music and lyrics by Si Kahn and a script by Amy Merrill, will premiere with readings at 3pm and 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 19th at The York Theatre Company in Manhattan. Silver Spoon, set in the late 1960s against the background of the grape boycott led by Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers of America, is a love story about the dividing lines of heritage and class. The musical explores themes of the pressures inherent in the tensions between the desire to honor family history and commitments and the desire to make one’s own name in the world, a struggle that crosses the lines of generations, class and ethnicity.
